Lincoln-Way Central’s girls’ soccer team faced a 3-0 defeat against their rivals, Lincoln-Way East, on April 10. Despite the loss, the Knights demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the match.
According to head coach Sean Fahey, early mistakes put Central in a challenging position. However, the team responded with a strong second half, creating several quality opportunities. “A few letdowns early got ourselves in a hole that became difficult to get out of,” Fahey said. “But the girls battled hard in the second half and created a few really good opportunities.”
Despite the setback, Lincoln-Way Central, holding a record of 7-2, displayed glimpses of disciplined and energetic play that has characterized their season. Notable performances were seen from Abby and Aly Sudkamp, Miranda Melde, and Jules Rafacz, who played with intensity and composure across both ends of the field.
No injuries were reported during the match. The team is now focusing on quickly recovering as they prepare for their upcoming game against Fenwick on April 12. This match will serve as the opening day of the Body Armor Series Showcase—a significant opportunity for the Knights to demonstrate their capabilities.
