Girls Lacrosse looks ahead after competitive 2025 season

The Lincoln-Way Central girls varsity lacrosse team concluded its 2025 season with an 8-10 record, marking steady progress despite facing challenges, according to head coach McDavid.

“Our season was filled with opportunities to do great things,” McDavid said. “The athletes performed well under pressure and grew both on and off the field. With every season, we work toward becoming a better team.”

According to McDavid, with a relatively small roster spanning three levels, the coaching staff focused on giving players ample game time and developing endurance and leadership among younger athletes. “Providing playing time at each player’s level helped train our younger players in endurance and ownership, which are vital to our team’s pillars of expectation,” he explained.

Looking ahead, the program plans to continue shaping its culture by incorporating lessons from collegiate camps and enhancing team communication to build confidence and encourage players to push themselves. Mia Drzewiecki, the team captain, earned praise for her exceptional leadership and ability to balance academics, athletics, social life, and professionalism — a challenge few high school students master.

“We are cultivating a unique team culture that promotes growth through effort and learning from failure,” McDavid said. The team is actively seeking an assistant coach to help further develop players’ professionalism. Equipment needs include a bulk order of lacrosse balls, while facility improvements call for better access to marked fields at East or West campuses to avoid late-night practices.

“Our goals for next season are to understand our individual roles better and work together to complete the bigger picture of the team’s success,” McDavid said. The girls lacrosse program remains committed to growth and excellence as it prepares for the 2025-26 season.
