Lincoln-Way Central turned in a strong showing on its home track, highlighted by a first-place finish and multiple competitive performances at the Lincoln-Way Central Girls Invitational.
The meet took place April 11 at Lincoln-Way Central High School, where the Knights competed against a deep field of teams from across the area.
Junior Mia Forystek delivered the top performance of the day for Lincoln-Way Central, winning the 1600-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:52.70. The race came down to the wire, as Forystek edged Barrington’s Mia Sirois by just two-tenths of a second to secure the victory. Macy Gallagher added a strong effort in the same event, finishing ninth in 5:16.75, while Brea Counihan placed 12th.
In the sprints, Lincoln-Way Central saw solid contributions from its underclassmen. Freshman Lyla Gallagher ran a personal-best 13.29 seconds in the 100 meters, while Klaudia Toczek followed with a 13.33. In the 200 meters, Amahri Robitz led the Knights with a 27.89 performance.
The 400 meters featured additional depth, with freshman Addison Barratt posting a personal-best 1:09.57 and Raegan Drew close behind at 1:09.76.
Lincoln-Way Central showed balance across distance and sprint events, highlighted by Forystek’s win and multiple personal-best performances as the team continues to build momentum this season.
