Des Gill recorded three hits and drove in two runs to help Lincoln-Way Central to a 13-3 win over York in a nonconference matchup.
The game took place March 30 at Lincoln-Way Central High School. The Knights answered quickly after allowing three runs in the first inning, scoring four in the bottom half to take control. They added two more in the second and broke the game open with a six-run sixth inning to secure the run-rule victory.
Lincoln-Way Central finished with 13 hits and drew five walks in a strong offensive performance. Gill led the lineup with a 3-for-4 effort, while Luke Tingley added three hits and two RBIs. Shawn Mowry contributed a hit and two RBIs, Conor McCabe delivered a double and two RBIs, and Austin Welch chipped in two hits and a run scored as part of the balanced attack.
On the mound, Will Kedzior struck out six over four innings, allowing just one earned run. Noah Sloan closed with two scoreless innings to finish the win.
York was limited to two hits, with Mason Shorter and Will Bute accounting for the Dukes’ offense.
Lincoln-Way Central continues its schedule following the decisive nonconference victory.
