Lincoln-Way Central’s girls cross country team showcased its depth and determination at the Peoria Notre Dame Richard Spring Invitational on Saturday. The team placed multiple runners among the leaders, culminating in a strong overall performance in this large invitational meet.
Keira Faxel led the Knights with a time of 17:38.20, placing 25th overall and setting the tone for a balanced Central squad. Mia Forystek followed closely behind in 40th place with a time of 17:50.80, while Ava Dughetti clocked 18:12.85 for 63rd to bolster the scoring pack. Jillian Davies (18:24.51) and Ana Dal Ponte (18:26.53) also finished in the top 85, giving Central five runners under 18:30.
According to reports from the event, the Knights’ depth extended well beyond the front group. Macy Gallagher (18:26.73), Grace Mathis (18:51.75), and Katelyn Petrosky (19:40.00) added valuable support to the team’s efforts. Aubrey Shipman highlighted the junior varsity flight with a run of 20:26.61 for 28th place, while Nicole Demma (20:44.91) and Cassidy Dion (20:46.43) were also among the top 50 in their division.
With 24 athletes completing the course, Lincoln-Way Central underscored its depth and commitment to pack running. The Knights’ consistent performances at every level point to a program capable of contending as the postseason approaches.
