Lincoln-Way girls wrestler Riley Deplo has captured multiple tournament championships this season while establishing herself as one of the top competitors in the 170-pound weight class.
Her title runs came Jan. 17 at the Girls Hawk Invite and Jan. 3 at the Break the Silence tournament at Oswego East, where she won first place in the 170-pound division against full varsity fields.
Deplo opened the new year with a championship performance at the Break the Silence event before following with another first-place finish two weeks later, continuing a stretch of consistent podium results. She also competed at the IWCOA Girls State Dual Team Championship on Dec. 27, representing Lincoln-Way in the 170-pound lineup spot.
Earlier in the season, Deplo placed second at the Minooka Girls Thanksgiving Throwdown on Nov. 26 and tested herself against elite competition at the Dan Gable Donnybrook on Dec. 5, where she finished 11th in one of the deepest girls brackets in the Midwest. She also wrestled at the Whip-Pur Women’s Classic on Dec. 20, gaining additional high-level experience.
With multiple tournament titles, a runner-up finish and appearances at several of the state’s premier events, Deplo’s body of work at 170 pounds reflects a season defined by consistency, growth and success against top-tier competition.
