Central Tennis clinches tight 4-3 win over rival

Lincoln-Way Central boys’ tennis team narrowly defeated Lincoln-Way West 4-3 on April 29 in a South Suburban Conference matchup, improving their record to 12-7.

Senior Matt Katsikas played a crucial role at No. 1 singles, achieving a comeback that secured a key point for Lincoln-Way Central. His performance was pivotal in shifting the momentum towards the Knights during the closely contested dual.

According to the match details, other contributors to the Knights’ victory included Ayden Maholy at No. 3 singles and the doubles teams of Devin Van Ginder and Michal Drozd at No. 3 doubles, as well as Carter Jabaay and Jack Wallace at No. 4 doubles. Each team demonstrated determination and coordination to secure the narrow win on the road against Lincoln-Way West.

Head coach Eric Balluff commended the team’s perseverance and highlighted Katsikas’ effort as “a defining moment” in the match. The victory provides momentum as the Knights prepare for their upcoming event against Sandburg.
