Lincoln-Way Central won 13 of 14 bouts and scored a decisive team victory over Berwyn-Cicero (Morton) in a Southwest Suburban Conference dual.
The dual was held Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. at Lincoln-Way Central High School, with the Knights winning 11 matches by fall, one by technical fall, one by major decision and one by forfeit.
The Knights opened with back-to-back pins from Brandon Valent at 106 (1:26) and Frank Fifer at 113 (4:36). After Morton picked up a win at 120, Central answered with a string of falls from Connor Richardson (126, 0:49), Ben Cundiff (132, 3:14) and Eric Hoselton (138, 0:18). Dylan Wrobel followed with a technical fall at 144, and Roman Nape (150) and Dominick Abatan (157) added pins to extend the lead.
After a forfeit at 165, Jalen Byrd pinned his opponent in 1:31 at 175, Evan Vogt earned a major decision at 190, Luke Wooten recorded a fall at 215 and Aiden Hennings closed the night with a first-period pin at 285.
Central’s lineup produced bonus points in 12 of its 13 wins, highlighted by six first-period falls, as the Knights controlled the pace throughout the conference matchup and showcased depth across every weight class.
