Lincoln-Way Central crowned two individual champions and had multiple wrestlers place at the Tom Lahey Southwest Suburban Conference Tournament, finishing with 113.5 team points.
The conference tournament was held Jan. 14 at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, featuring nine Southwest Suburban Conference programs competing across 14 weight classes.
Jalen Byrd captured the title at 175 pounds with a 13-1 major decision over Lockport’s Chris Miller in the championship match, while Aiden Hennings claimed the heavyweight crown at 285 with a first-period fall in 1:11 against Lincoln-Way East’s Gage LaDere. Hennings also recorded the fastest fall of the tournament in 12 seconds and finished with three pins in a combined time of 1:59, the quickest total pin time in the field. He was also part of a four-way tie for the most team points scored with 28.
Eric Hoselton added a podium finish for the Knights at 138 pounds, placing fourth after a 12-11 decision in the third-place match. As a team, Lincoln-Way Central recorded 10 pins during the two-day event, ranking among the conference leaders in falls and total scoring production.
With two champions, multiple placewinners and strong bonus-point scoring, the Knights’ performance reflected the program’s depth across the middle and upper weights and continued its consistent presence among the SWSC’s top postseason contenders.
