Lincoln-Way Central boys’ volleyball team secured a decisive victory over their rivals, Lincoln-Way West, in a two-set match on Thursday night. The Knights triumphed with scores of 25-17 and 25-13 during this Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC) matchup held on the road.

According to the team’s head coach, Mary Brown, the Knights improved their record to 16-9 overall and 2-1 in the SWSC. The team displayed strong offensive and defensive skills, preventing the Warriors from gaining momentum throughout the match.

Junior outside hitter Dylan Brannigan led Lincoln-Way Central’s attack with six kills and one block. Logan Baechtold contributed four kills and a block, while libero Colin Alvers supported the defense with a team-high of 15 digs. “Lincoln-Way Central defeats Lincoln-Way West in two,” Coach Brown said following the match. “The energy and execution were there from the start.”

The victory also held significance in terms of local rivalry between these two New Lenox-based schools. Lincoln-Way Central will now prepare for the upcoming Lincoln-Way East tournament scheduled for May 2-3.

With postseason play approaching, Brown noted that the Knights are gaining momentum at an opportune time as they aim to maintain their strong performance in tournament competitions. Their next challenge will assess their depth and consistency against leading teams in the area.
