Alex Panos anchors Lincoln-Way Central rotation

Lincoln-Way Central senior Alex Panos enters his final season as a key member of the Knights’ pitching staff, bringing experience and a deep arsenal of pitches to the mound.

A right-handed starter, Panos throws four pitches — fastball, changeup, curveball, and slider — with his curveball serving as his primary strikeout weapon. He focuses on sequencing and location to keep hitters off balance.

“I like setting up my fastball and playing off my pitches,” Panos said. “I try to keep the curveball low and not hang it.”

Panos said his main objective this season is improvement and consistency while helping the Knights compete for conference success and key rivalry victories.

“My main goal is to improve from last year and be more consistent,” he said. “We want to do better in conference and beat some of our rivals.”

Before each start, Panos relies on mental preparation to establish his approach against opposing hitters.

“I try to focus on my plan for each batter and cancel out the noise,” he said.

As one of the team’s veteran leaders, Panos hopes to finish his high school career with a strong season and help guide Lincoln-Way Central to a successful campaign.
