Lincoln-Way Central's boys track team delivered a strong performance at the Southwest Suburban Conference (SWSC) Championships held on May 14 at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
Under the guidance of coach Dustin Waddell, the Varsity Knights showcased standout performances across multiple events. In varsity competition, Braden Hoff won first place in the 1,600-meter run, with teammate Jack Galminas finishing second. Bryce Counihan secured second place in the 800-meter run, while JJ Carr earned third place in the discus throw. These top finishes earned all four athletes All-Conference honors.
The Frosh/Soph squad also made their presence known. Patrick Cuikaj took first place in the shot put. Austin Hundley and Michael Piotrowski vaulted to third and fourth place finishes, respectively, in the pole vault. The 3,200-meter relay team—Ryan Zartler, Andrew Nilson, JT Giertuga, and Domenico DiSalvo—captured first place with a season-best time. Gavin Hoff added a third-place finish in the 1,600-meter run.
With a 0-0 record on the season, the Knights now prepare for the upcoming Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Boys Sectional on May 21.
