Lincoln-Way Central softball tops Lincoln-Way West in extra-inning thriller

Lincoln-Way Central secured a narrow victory over rival Lincoln-Way West, winning 7–6 in extra innings on May 7. This win allowed them to maintain an unblemished record in conference play.

According to the game details, Junior Lisabella Dimitrijevic played a pivotal role by hitting a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, which ultimately led the Knights to victory. Dimitrijevic also contributed on the mound, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out four batters. With this win, Lincoln-Way Central improved their overall record to 20–1 and remained undefeated in conference action with a 10–0 record.

Mia Degliomini was instrumental in leading the offense with three hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Ellie McLaughlin added two hits, two walks, and a run, while Jalese Hays went 2-for-3 with an RBI. "We came up with timely hits and battled back a couple of times," said the Knights’ coaching staff. "The girls showed a lot of toughness and grit to come away with a win."

The closely contested matchup saw multiple lead changes throughout the game. Lincoln-Way West held a 6–4 advantage before Lincoln-Way Central tied it in the sixth inning. Both teams had opportunities to score late in the game; however, Central’s bullpen and defense managed to hold firm and force extra innings.

Lincoln-Way Central is scheduled to return to action on May 8 with an away game against St. Charles North.
