Lincoln-Way Central continued its hot streak Saturday with a thrilling 8-6 victory over Batavia, marking its sixth consecutive win.
The Knights (8-4) showed their resilience once again, building on a stretch where they have outscored opponents by an average of 4.6 runs. Saturday’s win didn’t come easy, as Batavia battled late, but Lincoln-Way Central held firm to preserve the two-run margin.
The victory also marked the Knights’ fifth straight home win, a run fueled by their powerful bats. Lincoln-Way Central has averaged 6.6 runs during the home streak, showcasing the depth of its offense. The Knights' latest triumph also gave them back-to-back wins over Batavia, adding more bragging rights to the budding matchup.
Meanwhile, Batavia (5-9-1) has struggled to find consistency, dropping three of its last four games. Despite a strong push in the final innings, the Bulldogs couldn’t overcome Lincoln-Way Central’s early lead.
Looking ahead, Lincoln-Way Central will look to continue its momentum when it hosts Sandburg at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Batavia aims to rebound quickly with a home matchup against St. Charles North at the same time.
