Lincoln-Way Central maintained its unbeaten record with a 10-4 victory over Lincoln-Way West on April 11, advancing to an overall record of 8-0 and 2-0 in the Southwest Suburban Conference.
The Knights achieved 13 hits during the game, marking their second conference win of the season. Senior Ellie McLaughlin spearheaded the offense, achieving three hits out of four at-bats, including a double and two runs batted in (RBIs). Kayla Doerre also contributed significantly, finishing with two hits out of three at-bats, one being a home run, and two RBIs.
On the pitching front, Brooke Seppi delivered two innings, conceding two earned runs while striking out three batters. Seppi and Lisabella Dimitrijevic worked together to limit Lincoln-Way West's scoring opportunities and maintain control for the Knights throughout the game.
"Great team win," head coach Jeff Tarala said. "A lot of girls contributed with the bat and in the field. Both pitchers were very effective today."
According to Tarala, Lincoln-Way Central took an early lead and maintained it due to consistent hitting and solid defense. The team's depth and comprehensive contributions have been crucial to their undefeated start.
Lincoln-Way Central aims to continue its winning streak on April 14 when it hosts Marist.
