Lincoln-Way Central track athletes shine at Illinois Top Times Indoor Championship

Lincoln-Way Central's boys and girls track teams concluded their indoor season with notable achievements at the Illinois Top Times Indoor Championship.

The boys' 4x800-meter relay team achieved a significant milestone by finishing in 7 minutes, 54 seconds. This performance broke the indoor school record, the Class 3A record, and the all-time meet mark. The team comprised Bryce Counihan, Jack Galminas, Kyle Friedl, and Braden Hoff, each running personal-best splits to secure this historic victory. According to the report, Hoff also delivered an impressive performance in the 1,600-meter run, securing second place with a personal-best time of 4:22.

The girls' 4x800 team also excelled by reducing their school's indoor record by 10 seconds. Ava Dughetti, Mia Forystek, Keira Faxel, and Jillian Davies were instrumental in achieving this feat. Additional medalists included Kylie Koehler, who finished sixth in the pole vault; Forystek, who placed sixth in the 800 meters; Ana Dal Ponte earning eighth in the 400 meters; and Dal Ponte along with Faxel, Cami Friedl, and Macy Gallagher finishing eighth in the 4x400 relay.

With several school records broken and multiple athletes achieving personal bests, Lincoln-Way Central is experiencing a surge of momentum and confidence as they move forward.
